Last week I finished The Gripping Hand, the sequel to The Mote in God's Eye and a book that was apparently eighteen years in the making. ISBN: 9780671795740 | 432 pages | 11 Mb. And on one of my feet (sorry, ran out of hands, even Motie ones) it could be a fine thing if the Gulf States discover that we're not really on their side. Unfortunately, The Gripping Hand was an infuriating work. It has a different flavour than those two works. Outies is set as a sequel to The Gripping Hand and The Mote in God's Eye. It is a further object of this invention to apply this new principle to a flexible arm which carries a gripping hand and for which a plurality of hand types are provided with the gripping hands being readily interchangeable. On the gripping hand, this could all be BS/propaganda. Back when I read the books, I was deeply impressed by The Mote in God's Eye , but The Gripping Hand was quite a let down. By “tops of the leading and trailing wrists,” it is meant the sides of the wrists where the thumbs are, which during setup, these thumb-sides of the wrists are on “top” of the gripping hands.
